A PLEA TO THE CULTURAL MINISTER OF KERALA

Dear Sir,

If you ask a simple question to any child or youth of Bharat, who is the most loved and respected elder of our nation, the answer will be unanimous: Bharatratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He is a ray of hope for everyone in this nation except politicians, because he travels at least twenty years ahead of them!

Keralites are very lucky that he had spent nearly one third of his life in Thiruvananthapuram. Nearly twenty one years, he stayed a lodge, near Gandhari Amman Coil in Trivandrum. The owner of Guruvayoorappan Hotel told me that during those twenty-one years which he spend in Trivandrum, not even a single day Dr.Kalam had sit and eat in the dining hall. He used to go to the kitchen and eat whatever is available, strictly vegetarian, by standing there. He didn’t have even a single minute to waste for food!

I have a request to the honourable minister for education and culture, Mr.MA Baby, to convert that lodge into a museum for children and others. His room should be preserved as it is. A good library, seminar hall and mini theatre should be set up where students can listen to the words of Dr. Kalam. If this dream is realized, children from all over the nation can come and feel the breath of Dr. Kalam, which will ignite their souls, and that will become capital assets for national integration.

The place where the lodge is situated is easily accessible and children will have a chance to share the experiences of the soul mate of Kalam, the owner of Guruvayoorappan Hotel. But one thing is important that the current asset value of lodge should be given to its owner, otherwise Dr. Kalam will not accept this proposal.

It will become a place where one can learn what the difference between constructive destruction and destructive construction and why he liked to promote two party systems, the key stone of success of all developed nations.

I hope Sri MA Baby will take initiative in this matter for the children and youth of nation. He can very easily convert it into a centre for interaction for Dr. Kalam and children as he visits Trivandrum frequently.

It is the dream of every parent of Keralam including me. If this dream is realized, then it will be a golden feather on the minister's cap.

Jai Hind.
